Wigan Casino

The third, and arguably the greatest of the 1970s Soul Clubs was Wigan Casino.
The Casino filled the gap that had been created when the Torch closed down. The first all nighter at the Casino took place in September 1973, the last in 1981. During those 8 years hundreds of thousands of Northern Soul fans visited the Casino. In 1978 the American Billboard Magazine voted the club as 'The Best Disco in the World' ahead of New York City's Studio 54.
