How to identify computer ram ddr1 ddr2 ddr3, DDR4 Identifying the Computer RAM (Random Access Memory) like DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, and DDR4 physically is not so hard if you follow the steps.

  1. Distance of Notch
  2. Integrated Chip (IC) type

DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 is the most using RAM currently in the market.

First of all confirm is it DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, or Different DDR’s SDRAM. keep your DDR chip front-facing as given bellow. here look to the notch each DDR notch distance is different from others DDR. It’s mentioned in the picture.

I ordered some G.Skill 6 GB (3 x 2 GB) DDR3 1600 mhz RAM and a AMD motherboard with 4 slots. I am planning to run Phenom ii x6 3.2 ghz on it. My friend says its bad to run 3 sticks of ram. You cannot put DDR3 in a DDR4 RAM slot, so if you are buying a newer processor, such as an eighth or ninth generation Intel, or an AMD Ryzen processor, you will need to purchase DDR4 RAM to go with it. DDR4 is the future of RAM. It is faster than DDR3, uses less power than DDR3, and has increased bandwidth over DDR3. Features: CT2K51264BF186DJ is a 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 Notebook modules that operate at speed up to 1866 MT/s and has a CL13 latency. It is dual voltage and can operate at 1.35V or 1.5V. It is Unbuffered and is non-ECC. It conforms to the industry standard SODIMM layout of 204 pins and is compatible with computers that take DDR3 SODIMM memory. A memory upgrade is one of the fastest, easiest, and most affordable ways to immediately improve the performance of your computer. If your PC laptop, desktop, workstation, or Mac system is running slowly, installing more memory takes as little as five minutes and delivers immediate and lasting improvements. JET-5452CC Extender is designed to protect Memory Module and to extend the life of the original sockets on the system or tester. Simply plug the JET-5452CC into the DDR3 sockets on the motherboard or tester. Then insert the memory module onto the JET-5452CC for testing or burning-in.

Distance of Notch

    • Notch Means above cuts Mark on RAM
      • DDR1, DDR2, DDR3 having Single Cut mark on the base of the RAM
    • But you can see the Cut mark (Notch) distance (see below photo)
      • Notch of DDR1 and DDR2 are similar but if you see closely,
        • You can find DDR1 Notch is just above the IC and DDR
        • DDR2 Notch is just far to the IC
      • Notch of DDR3 is different from the other two.
  • Integrated Chip (IC)

    • See the Above Photo
      • DDR3 having small and square type IC.
      • DDR2 is just bigger then DDR3 and smaller the DDR1,
      • In this case, too, DDR1 and DDR2 are just a small difference
        • IC in DDR1 are touched both top and bottom of RAM
        • and IC in DDR2 is just center of the RAM
  • Number of Pins in DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4

    • DDR1 – 184 Pins
      • DDR2 – 240 Pins
        • DDR3 – 240 Pins
          • DDR4 – 288 Pins
  • Voltage of RAM

    • The voltage of RAM cannot be used for the Physical finding of RAM, but it can be used to place the RAM in the Motherboard Slot. (voltage are written in the RAM Slot of Motherboard)
      • DDR1 Volts – 2.5 v
        • DDR 2 Volts – 1.8 v
          • DDR3 Volts – 1.5 v
            • DDR4 Volts – 1.2v

FM2+ Motherboards are backwards compatible with FM2 APUs, meaning Richland and Trinity APUs are compatible with FM2+ motherboards. FM2+ APUs are not compatible with FM2 boards, so if you want to upgrade to a Kaveri APU, you will also need to upgrade to a motherboard with a socket FM2+.

FM2+ Motherboards have a variety of chipsets, with the most common being A88X, A78, and A55.

Here is a selection of the best FM2+ motherboards on the market.

LGA 2011-v3 motherboards with an X99 chipset support Haswell-E processors that were released in September 2014: Intel Core i7-5960X, Core i7-5930K, and Core i7-5820K.

We have listed some of the best X99 motherboards for gaming below, compare them to find out which board is best suited to your setup and budget.
